Dear Customer,

Needless to say, the last few years have been a rollercoaster of challenges - many of them unanticipated - with long-reaching consequences affecting numerous industries. Unfortunately, PharmaScout was not immune to this changing macro-landscape and as a consequence, you, our customer, have not had the service we pride ourselves in.

In the next 8 - 12 weeks our client base will have their annual calibrations completed, any repairs or faulty sensors mended, and new customers will receive their stock.

Unfortunately, the reason for our delayed service was out of our hands, but be assured we’ve spent the past 14 months adapting our product’s hardware to be more flexible in this rapidly changing environment.

THE GLOBAL MICROCHIP SHORTAGE

The Covid-19 pandemic affected almost every sphere of life, and one we’re still feeling the effects of today is the global chip shortage. Goldman Sachs estimated that over 169 industries have been impacted by this shortage - automotive and consumer electronics amongst the hardest hit.

The shortage was essentially caused by supply and demand challenges as 5G, work-from-home tech demands, electric vehicles and more have increased demands for microchips, also called semiconductors. This demand outstripped supply and then was exacerbated by the pandemic. As the BBC explained, “the pandemic was not the sole cause of the chip shortage: "That was probably just the last drop in the bucket."’ This crisis has been years in the making and won’t be permanently fixed anytime soon.

FUTURE-PROOFING YOUR BUSINESS: PHARMASCOUT’S INNOVATIVE SOLUTION

PharmaScout uses semiconductors in our uniquely sensitive temperature sensor, which we’ve dubbed ‘TEMPSCOUT’. This essential component was heavily affected by the shortage.

Instead of redesigning our newly re-designed TEMPSCOUT, we instead spent over a year innovating our scout’s software (and some hardware) to deliver on our promise, regardless of global chip supply ebbs and flows.

This was not the solution we were expecting to come up with, but the challenges of the past three years illustrated to PharmaScout’s engineers that the key to longevity was not trading an old problem for a new one, but rather to throw away the box completely and think about the problem in a completely new way

Our sole focus for the past year has been to find a solution that works, and we’re thrilled to be at the execution phase of this product development. We believe that our efforts will result in a solution that exceeds your expectations and provides a seamless experience tailored to your needs.

“Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things."

- Theodore Levitt, economist and professor at Harvard Business School.

Not only will we be able to return to our standard high level of service, we also will be improving your products and ensuring you can withstand further macro-changes out of our control with what is in our control: providing you with an excellent product that works to keep you both compliant and significantly reduce the pressures of your daily job.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

We know that some of our customers are expecting inspections from regulatory bodies, and are concerned they are not compliant. Please contact us if this is the case, as we can supply you with the necessary documentation and communicate directly with the regulatory body to ensure your business isn’t affected by industry challenges.

Thank you for your patience over this time, and be assured that we are taking these challenges to heart, and are working to ensure your business is safeguarded against the volatility of the current environment.

Regards

Gregory Daus, CEO
